  • Young riders, grades 8 through 12,  are you ready to roll?  We are excited to announce the the return of Skowhegan Outdoors Mountain Biking Camp. The  camp is designed for campers who already know how to ride a bike, and are new to the sport of mountain biking and/or those looking to further advance their trail riding skills.

Our camp promises an exhilarating experience packed with safety, skills, and of course thrills!

We are pleased to offer this camp free of charge due to the generous support of Main Street Skowhegan, Katahdin Learning Project, and the Maine Department of Education - Maine Outdoor Learning Initiative. Space is limited, so sign up today.

    SKOWHEGAN OUTDOORS MOUNTAIN BIKE CAMP

Safety takes center stage at our camp. We prioritize equipping riders with the knowledge and skills to navigate rugged terrain with confidence and caution, ensuring every twist and turn is met with assurance and control. Similarly, nutrition and hydration are a focus too.

    RIDERS SHOULD EXPECT:

    • Friendly, positive, and challenge-by-choice instruction from the Skowhegan Outdoors staff.
    • To learn, practice and progress through the fundamentals of mountain biking; including safety and proper technique.
    • Exposure to the variety of trails offered right here in Maine.
    • Lunch is included, daily.
    • Transportation from Skowhegan Outdoors Basecamp to various trails is provided each day.
    • Mountain bikes and helmets are available to borrow, should a camper need equipment for the week.
    • Surprise excursions, to break up time in the saddle.
    • Culminating ride experience at Freeman Ridge Bike Park!

    EXPECTATIONS OF CAMPERS:

    • Open mind and positive attitude.
    • Comfortable riding a bike, this camp is not designed to teach participants how to ride a bike.
    • Start the day with a hearty breakfast before you arrive at camp; lunch is provided, but campers will need to begin each day fueled up and hydrated.
    • Bring extra water, it gets hot fast!
    • We also recommend bringing a towel, sunscreen, change of clothes, and a bathing suit (just in case!).
    • Please wear proper footwear.  Closed-toe shoes (sneakers are great!); no sandals, crocks or flip flops

We can’t wait to get out there and rip with our 2024 campers!
