  • Did you know that May is National Bike Month? To help you gear up for a great summer of riding, we’re starting off the month with a Bike Rodeo: Safety & Skills Clinic.

You’re invited to join us for an evening of bike skills and fun challenges at Coburn Park.

    WHAT TO EXPECT?

A wheelie good time! Whether you’re just starting or looking to sharpen your bike skills, this clinic is for you.

The clinic is designed to introduce and reinforce bike safety tips, as well as give riders a chance to practice basic bike handling skills. All in a fun and flowy progression.*

The Skowhegan Outdoors team will teach you a range of skills from properly fitting your helmet to basic bike maintenance and mastering riding techniques. For good measure, we’ll discuss the rules of the road to help you ride safely with traffic.

All bicycles are welcome; hybrid, road, mountain, strider, fat tire, old and new! Need to borrow a bike and/or helmet? We got you! We have a limited number of bicycles and helmets to lend in our Gear Library at Basecamp. Just let us know in advance.

Any level rider is welcome to join: newbie, expert or just want a refresher, we’ve got a spot for you. Riders below age 15 should be accompanied by an adult.

This is a free community activity coordinated by the Skowhegan Outdoors AmeriCorps Program, an initiative of nonprofit Main Street Skowhegan.

*Participants should already be familiar with how to ride a bike.
