New to cross-country skiing or looking to build confidence on skis? This half-day introductory clinic, led by experienced instructors from Maine Huts & Trails, is designed for beginners and first-time skiers.
Participants will learn foundational cross-country skiing skills, including basic movement, stopping, turning, and climbing techniques, along with an overview of equipment setup and trail etiquette. After instruction, the group will ski from the trailhead into Flagstaff Hut, experiencing one of Maine’s premier Nordic destinations.
Transportation, instruction, and lunch are included in the program cost. All participants will meet at the Basecamp Gear Library before departure.

Cancellation Policy
More than 7 days prior to the program: Full refund
3–7 days prior: 50% refund or full credit toward a future Skowhegan Outdoors program
Less than 72 hours prior or no-show: No refund
Programs may be rescheduled or canceled by Skowhegan Outdoors due to weather, water levels, or safety concerns. In these cases, participants will receive a full refund or program credit. -
