Black Ash Flower Hunt at Jackson Woods

The purpose of this event is to identify and mark seed bearing black ash trees for the Somerset Woods Trustees seed collection program. The seed collection program aims to collect seeds from black ash across SWT properties and preserves as a response to the continued spread of emerald ash borer.
Participants should expect to arrive for a quick safety chat, a discussion about black ash flowers and the SWT seed collection program, before heading into the woods to mark trees. We will walking down a steep hill and then traveling along a stream while marking black ash trees.
This event is open to individuals of all ages! Participants should wear rubber boots or some other waterproof footwear as the area we will be in will be very wet. If you have a personal pair of binoculars please bring them with you to help identify the correct flowers. All participants should expect to sign a sign-in sheet and waiver upon arrival.

Directions: Search Jackson Woods or 478 E Madison Rd, Madison. On your way there you will pass a SWT sign and then a mailbox in an orange bucket, Park only in front of the gray garage before the house. Do not park in or block the driveway.
