Learn whitewater kayaking skills from our resident whitewater expert, Ben Koehler at Skowhegan’s Cleaver Landing Boat Launch. He will be going over the basics of whitewater kayaking for beginners and helping more experienced boaters hone their skills. Whether you want to just sit in a boat for the first time, learn paddle strokes, or improve your kayak roll, all are welcome. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes suitable for swimming and boating. Bring drinking water.
A limited supply of kayak gear is available upon request from the Skowhegan Outdoors Basecamp, a free Community Gear Library. Be sure to note our height for proper sizing.
This is a free community activity coordinated by the Skowhegan Outdoors AmeriCorps Program, an initiative of nonprofit Main Street Skowhegan.
