  • Learn whitewater kayaking skills from our resident whitewater expert, Ben Koehler at Skowhegan’s Cleaver Landing Boat Launch. He will be going over the basics of whitewater kayaking for beginners and helping more experienced boaters hone their skills. Whether you want to just sit in a boat for the first time, learn paddle strokes, or improve your kayak roll, all are welcome.

Wear comfortable clothing and shoes suitable for swimming and boating. Bring drinking water, snacks, and lunch. A limited supply of kayak gear and clothing are available upon request from the Skowhegan Outdoors Basecamp, a free Community Gear Library. If you need to borrow gear, please notify ben@mainstreetskowhegan.org. This is a free community program put on by Skowhegan Outdoors, an organization of AmeriCorps and a project of Main Street Skowhegan.
