  • Come join us for a summertime hike up Mosquito Mountain in The Forks! The hike is a moderate 3 miles out and back with some steep sections. Mosquito Mountain overlooks Moxie Pond and a large expanse of the northern Maine woods. We will be carpooling and caravanning from Skowhegan Outdoor’s Basecamp at 65 Water Street, Skowhegan.

    Wear comfortable clothing and shoes suitable for hiking. Bring water and a packed lunch for a picnic at the top. If needed, a limited supply of gear and clothing is available upon request from the Skowhegan Outdoors Basecamp, a free Community Gear Library. This is a free community program put on by Skowhegan Outdoors, an AmeriCorps organization and project of Main Street Skowhegan.

Founded in 2005 by a group of citizens, Main Street relies on hardworking staff, energetic AmeriCorps members, a dedicated Board of Directors, and more than a hundred awesome volunteers to execute major community initiatives and events.
